sangheeut will present the works of Jisoo Lee and Minyoung Won at The Preview Seongsu, in its 4th edition. Both artists will showcase paintings that stand out for their unique compositions and experimental approach to the canvas as a medium.
Jisoo Lee closely observes and absorbs her surroundings, drawing inspiration from the cracks in her everyday life. Her work transforms the anxieties stemming from these disruptions into both two-dimensional and three-dimensional sculptures. Within her creations, various elements interact and sometimes clash, generating a distinctive tension.
Minyoung Won conjures "structures-constellations where sentences that fail to form words and words that cannot form sentences gather and occasionally emerge, yet do not." She applies muted hues to linen or linen-like surfaces, imbuing the beings she creates with a sense of eternity on the canvas.
상히읗은 4회를 맞이하는 더프리뷰 성수에 이지수와 원민영의 작업을 소개하는 부스를 선보인다. 두 작가 모두 독특한 화면 구성과 회화의 지지체에 대한 실험적 자세가 돋보인다.
이지수는 자신을 둘러싼 주변 환경과 상황을 긴밀하게 살피고 흡수한다. 일상의 균열에서부터 출발하는 작가의 작업은 각각의 균열이 야기한 불안의 감정을 평면과 입체 조각에 옮겨낸다. 다양한 요소들은 작가에 의해 화면 안에서 관계를 맺고 때로는 대치되며 특유의 긴장감을 자아낸다.
원민영은 “말이 되지 않는 문장, 문장이 되지 못 한 단어가 모여 때때로 말이 되고, 또 되지 않는 구조-별자리”를 소환한다. 이를 면천이나 린넨 위 색을 얹고 흐린 색감으로 채워나간다. 그렇게 원민영이 그려낸 존재는 화면 위에서 영원성을 부여받는다.
